Admissions Routine visits Patients are seen by appointment only. New client? We welcome all new patients to our hospital and we are very pleased to have you as a client. We will do everything we can to serve you and your pet. Click here to download our Client Information Form. Save time by downloading it, printing it out, filling it out and bringing it with you on your first visit. Hours of operation Monday thru Friday the hospital opens for surgery drop off at 7:30am. We answer phones and take appointments from 8:00am until 6:00pm. Between 12:30 and 1:30 we are closed for lunch. Saturday we are open from 9 am to 12 pm for prescription & food pickup only. Sunday we are closed. Our pre-surgical policy No food after 9:00pm the night before surgery, water is OK until morning, take it away when you get up. Presurgical blood tests are mandatory in patients over 7. In younger patients they may be waived by written consent, though we don't recommend this, as it is safest to have blood values on all patients. Most patients are able to return home in the afternoon after surgery, depending on the procedure. Patients requiring monitoring and care after hours are sometimes transferred to the Animal ER of San Diego. A technician from KMVC will transport to and from the ER if it is more convenient for you. Overnight patients We do not have someone continuously on the premises after hours. We do have an alarm system that is monitored 24/7 for fire, smoke and illegal entry. After-hours emergencies We don't take after-hours emergency calls at the hospital. The doctors feel that emergency and critical care are better addressed by people who do only that, so we refer emergencies and patients needing intensive overnight care to practices that specialize in emergency and critical care medicine.
