Travel Health Certificates for Pets
Travelling with your pet may require a veterinarian-issued health certificate, depending on your destination.
At Kearny Mesa Veterinary Center, we work closely with Pawsitive Pet Health Certificates (PPHC) to help prepare and manage the documentation needed for domestic and international pet travel.
Because requirements can vary and may include vaccinations, microchipping, or testing, we recommend planning ahead and scheduling your appointment early.

Domestic & International Health Certificates
Planning a trip with your pet? Kearny Mesa Veterinary Center is here to help make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
We now offer both Interstate (Domestic) and International Health Certificates for pets traveling within the United States and around the world.
- Interstate (Domestic) Travel
If you are traveling within the United States, our team can assist you directly. Simply contact our hospital, and one of our Care Coordinators will provide you with our Interstate Health Certificate Questionnaire and help coordinate any appointments, examinations, vaccinations, or testing required for your destination.
- International Travel
For international travel, requirements can vary significantly depending on your destination country and may include specific vaccinations, laboratory testing, parasite treatments, timing requirements, and USDA endorsement. To help simplify this process, we partner with Pawsitive Pet Health Certificates (PPHC), a team of experts who specialize in pet travel documentation.
Why we partner with PPHC?
PPHC provides expert guidance throughout the entire process, helping pet owners navigate country-specific requirements with ease. We collaborate to ensure all steps are properly managed, while also tracking health certificates and endorsements. This streamlined approach helps reduce stress and minimizes the risk of travel delays.
How It Works
- Complete the PPHC Questionnaire:
Start by completing the PPHC travel questionnaire. Their team will review your travel plans and your pet's requirements based on your destination.
- Paperwork Preparation:
PPHC works directly with you, our hospital, and the USDA to ensure all required documentation, testing, treatments, and timelines are identified and completed correctly.
- Schedule Your Appointment:
Once the requirements have been reviewed, your pet will visit Kearny Mesa Veterinary Center for the required examination and any necessary treatments or testing.
- Certificate Processing & USDA Endorsement:
PPHC assists with preparing and tracking your health certificate through the USDA endorsement process when required, helping ensure your documents are completed and returned in time for travel.
Ready to get started?
We strongly recommend starting the process as early as possible, as some destinations require several months of preparation before travel.
